Bounedjah: Our desire was key to the victory, this win is a big boost
Al-Sadd’s Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah spoke of his elation after scoring two late goals for the Wolves in their comeback 2-1 win over Al-Wasl in the AFC Champions League game played on Monday evening in Dubai.
Speaking after the match, Bounedjah said: “Praise be to God. We are very happy with the win. We went into the game looking to win. Our focus was entirely on this match and we left everything else outside the pitch so as to achieve our goal. Starting off with a win will be a big psychological boost to help us finish off the campaign successfully.”
“Thank God I came on to the pitch in the 57th minute and I was fully focused on scoring. I had a number of chances, most prominently the overhead kick which was saved by the keeper. Thankfully, I was able to score two goals after that, with the help of my teammates and we ended up with what we had set out to achieve – the three points.”
He also added: “All the players were focused on the match until the final whistle. Thank God, due to our desire we were able to score two goals and clinch the victory.”
