Ferreira: It’s a deserved win and a morale booster for us

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira stressed that his side were deserved winners after their 2-0 victory over Al-Rayyan in Round 16 of the QNB Stars League.

Speaking to the media after the match, Ferreira said: “It was a deserved win. We were better than Al-Rayyan in both halves. Possession was the secret to our victory, in addition to the assists that gave us the goals.”

He went on to add: “There are six matches left in the league. Al-Duhail, Al-Sadd and Al-Rayyan will now take part in the AFC Champions League. Competing for the title is tough for Al-Rayyan but it is not impossible.”

“The QSL is very different from the AFC Champions League. I loved this match because it is a great test against a team like Al-Rayyan and we now have an excellent chance to give our best against Al-Wasl in the Champions League as well,” said Ferreira. “The Al-Sadd players need a lot of mental focus to play away from home. We will work with them on the psychologial side in order to get the required result.”

The coach also said: “Al-Sadd have a lot of capabilities. We can do better than what we showed here and the players know that. All the players need to be confident. We are capable of winning everytime and achieving titles.”

Ferreira concluded by saying: “I am happy with Jugurtha Hamroun’s performance and the goal that he scored, in addition to Baghdad Bounedjah who returned from injury and netted the second goal.”
