Al-Sadd hold main training session to prepare for Al-Rayyan
The Al-Sadd football first team were in great spirits on Tuesday evening as they held the main training session ahead of their upcoming QNB Stars League clash with Al-Rayyan.
The Round 16 match will kick off at 6:50 PM on Thursday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
Al-Sadd go into the match sitting in second place in the league table, with a tally of 37 points after winning their last game 3-1 over Qatar SC.
As for their opponents Al-Rayyan, they are in third place with 35 points and defeated Al-Markhiya 3-1 in their last game.
Before Tuesday’s training session began, head coach Jesualdo Ferreira held a meeting with the players to discuss with them about the importance of the match and the team’s objectives in it.
The coaching staff used Tuesday’s session to work on some tactical plans while also overseeing movement exercises, before making the players fight it out in a mini practice game.
Full back Abdelkarim Hassan was a prominent part of training on Tuesday after recovering fully from an ankle knock that required him to leave the pitch in the first half of the game against Qatar SC.
Algerian striker Baghdad Boundejah trained hard on Tuesday and looks to be close to making a return to the squad after being out of action with an injury.
Jugurtha Hamroun is also set to return to action for the Wolves after the end of his one-game suspension due to a fourth yellow card.
The Al-Sadd first team goalkeepers (Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barsham, Jehad Mohammed and Sami Subait) underwent special training which was overseen by goalkeeping coach Luca Squinzani, who focuses on agility, balance and reactions.
The training session was attended by a number of Al-Sadd fans, who showed up at the training pitch to display their support for the players ahead of the big Clasico clash.
The team is now set to hold the final training session from 6 PM on Wednesday, after which the head coach will announce the matchday squad.
