Al-Baloushi: Our reputation pushes us to compete for the QSL Cup title
Al-Sadd sporting director Mohammed Gholam Al-Baloushi believes that “the club’s reputation will push the team to aim for the QSL Cup title.”
The opening fixture of the inaugural edition will see Al-Sadd face Al-Markhiya on Wednesday at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
Speaking to the club website, Al-Baloushi said: “We will play this tournament mostly with U23 players. The aim is to give them more experience and show their talent, as it will be a hard-fought and beneficial tournament.”
“The tournament will be a great event for the development of young players so that they may help the team in all the upcoming challenges during the season,” remarked the sporting director. “On a sporting level, it is a very important tournament as you can evaluate the progress of the youngsters. The most important thing for us is the improvement of our players.”
As for the preparations of the team during the international break, Al-Baloushi said: “The international break is important for us to get some rest and regroup before returning to the intense competition that we’re seeing in this season.”
He also added: “Al-Sadd resumed training on Monday and will now play a friendly game on Sunday, the 8th of October against Turkish side Trabzonspor.”
