Al-Sadd defeat Al-Shamal 8-0 in practice match
Al-Sadd put eight goals past Al-Shamal on Thursday night, in the first friendly match after the return to Doha following the end of the preseason camp in Austria. The match was held at the club’s training pitch and was part of the preparations for the new 2017-18 season.
Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a shot that deceived the keeper. His compatriot Jugurtha Hamroun made it 2-0 just two minutes later before youngster Meshaal Al-Shammari scored the third with a powerful strike from outside the box in the 30th minute. Hamroun then returned to score his second of the game in the 32nd minute to make it 4-0 and that’s how the first half ended.
The goal fest continued in the second half and new signing Yasser Abubakar put his name on the scoresheet early on, netting in the 47th minute. Then, it was the turn of Bounedjah to strike again, scoring in the 53rd minute to take the score to 6-0. The seventh goal came in the 60th minute through substitute Saoud Ibrahim before Al-Shammari scored his second of the night in the 65th minute to make it 8-0.
Al-Sadd started the match with the following lineup: Meshaal Barshim (GK), Ghassan Waheed, Morteza Pouraliganji, Fahad Shanin, Hatem Kamal, Xavi, Ahmed Bader, Yasser Abubakr, Baghdad Bounedjah, Jugurtha Hamroun and Meshaal Al-Shammari.
Ayoob Mashhoor, Abdulaziz Al-Jalabi, Saoud Ahmed and Hassan Ahmed entered as substitutes in the second half.
