Musab Khodr: Happy to extend my contract; the club fulfilled all my wants

Al-Sadd full back Musab Khodr is a delighted man after extending his contract with the club for three seasons upto 2020. Currently in Austria with the team for preseason training, Musab spoke with the club website in a wide ranging interview.

The 24-year old considers the current phase to be very important for the Wolves. “We started preparations for the new season five days ago. This is the second day for us in the foreign camp here in Bad Haring, Austria. The next season could be the toughest in recent years. Alhamdulillah, the team is almost complete with most of the players joining the camp,” said Musab.

He went on to add: “The players must be patient and should work hard during this phase in order to benefit fully and reach the level of readiness needed to give their best.”

As for his contract extension, Musab said: “I am a son of the club, coming through the age group teams and entering the first team in 2012/13. Al-Sadd is my home and Al-Sadd made Musab Khodr. Extending the contract is a result of my satisfaction. Everything was agreed with the club management at the first meeting.”

“I thank the club management who fulfilled all my wants in the new contract. I hope I can perform up to the expectations of the management, coaches and fans in the new season.”

Musab was then asked about the competition for spots in the first team. He went on to point out that it is not easy to be in the Al-Sadd first team. “There is no player in Qatar who can reserve a spot there. Al-Sadd have a plethora of great players. And so, we must work hard to be fully fit and ready.”

On his personal goals with Al-Sadd in the new season, Musab had this to say: “Of course, my aim is to win the league title. After winning the Qatar Cup and the Emir’s Cup, the Wolves now need to compete hard for the league title which we haven’t won since 2013.”

“I hope I can continue giving my best and playing for the national team. The national team jersey is the most important. Everyone should support the national team, regardless of the results. I hope I can play for Qatar at the 2022 World Cup.”

Musab went on to send a message to the Al-Sadd fans: “We know that the Al-Sadd fans do not like to lose any match. We are working hard on that and every player is determined and spirited since the start of the preseason. We are working to give our best and win titles. All that we wish for is the support of the fans so that this season will be a good one for us.”
