Ferreira: We didn’t play as required; the referees provoked our players

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his displeasure with events that transpired during his side’s 1-1 with Al-Shahaniya in Round 19 of the QSL.

Speaking to the media at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “I congratulate Al-Shahaniya and wish them luck in the coming matches. We lost two valuable points in the race for the title. We also lost three important players after their sending off in the game.”

The boss went on to add: “Al-Shahaniya played in a defensive manner. Unfortunately, the refereeing errors hurt us a lot. The officials provoked our players and this shows a lack of respect towards Al-Sadd. There were many refereeing errors in the previous matches which cost us many points.”

Ferreira went on to conclude by saying: “We haven’t played in the required manner and we didn’t deserve to win. I am responsible for the result. My team did not play well. I know our opponents were smart and played in a defensive manner. Their keeper wasted more than 10 minutes. I hope they play like this against the other teams too.”
