Jugurtha Hamroun: I feel proud to play for Al-Sadd

Al-Sadd’s new Algerian signing Jugurtha Hamroun has expressed his happiness and pride in joining the Wolves. Hamroun, who was officially unveiled on Saturday, said that he knew the team well, having watched some of the games on TV and knew that fellow Algerian Nadir Belhadj used to play for the team.

Speaking at the official press conference, Hamroun said: “I hope I can be a real addition to the team in the upcoming season and I hope I can leave an impression by winning titles. This is my aim and I will do all I can to achieve it, with the help of my teammates.”

“Of course, the negotiations did not take long. I did not hestitate for even a second before accepting the offer for many different reasons. The prime reason is that I want to play in a strong league like the QSL and to be in an Arab Muslim country. In addition to that, there are great relations between the Qatari and the Algerian people and so I expect to get used to Doha quickly,” added the Algerian star.

Hamroun also said: “To be honest, I received many offers recently and the most prominent was from Czech club Sparta Prague after facing my team Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League qualifier. But I did not accept it because I was committed to playing for Al-Sadd.”

He went on to speak of the honour of playing with Xavi, saying: “It is a great honour to play alongside the big star that is Xavi Hernandez and he has been my favourite player ever since I was young and watching on TV. I have had the opportunity previously to meet him on the pitch.”

Hamroun concluded by saying: “There is no doubt that we as a team need the support of the fans in the upcoming phase, especially as all the other factors are supportive of us winning titles Insha Allah.”
