Pedro: Happy to play for Al-Sadd, need to develop to win titles

​Al-Sadd first team defender and recent signing Pedro Miguel has expressed his delight in joining the club, saying that it was the realization of one of his most important dreams as a footballer to play in the biggest club in Qatar, which is also famous in Asia. He also said that it was an honour for any player to wear the Al-Sadd jersey.

Speaking in an exclusive chat with the official website of the club after his first training session, Pedro said: “I am happy to be at Al-Sadd and to participate in my first training session with the team which has the best players in Qatar, be it local or foreign.” He pointed out that he will strive to improve in order to keep up with the Al-Sadd training, which he considers to be of a very high quality.

The Al-Sadd defender went on to add: “I hope luck will be on my side with Al-Sadd and that I perform and play according to the levels expected by the fans, who are the prime support for the team in all its wins. I hope that I will be a partner with all my teammates in continuing the practice of adding titles to the Al-Sadd collection.”

Pedro also said that his immediate goal in the upcoming period is to compete strongly in all the tournaments and also in Asia, stating that he will work towards this goal from day one. He added that it was a dream come true to play with Al-Sadd in the AFC Champions League, which is the strongest tournament in the continent and is also one which Al-Sadd has won twice previously. Pedro also stated that the team will work hard to win it again.

As for the upcoming QSL Round 17 game against Al-Ahli, Pedro said: “I respect Al-Ahli and my former teammates but I will play the match as a professional in order to help my team to victory.” He added that this is how football is and that every player has to do all he can to help his team to victory.

Asked about his ambitions to play with the Qatar national team, Pedro confirmed that this was his goal. He said: “Playing for Qatar is my goal and I will strive to realize it and being with Al-Sadd player will push me to improve and give my best in order to attain the honour of playing for Qatar in the near future.

The new signing concluded his talk by saying: “I thank the Al-Sadd management, the players and the coaching staff for the great welcome and I promise them that I will work hard to give my best and remain in their good books.”
