​FIFA.com, the official website for the international governing body for football, marked the birthday of Al-Sadd star Xavi Hernandez on Monday.

The midfielder was born on 25 January 1980 and as FIFA.com attests, grew up to become one of the legends of the game, starring for FC Barcelona and currently leading Al-Sadd.

The website described Xavi as the king of the midfield and also talked about his journey from La Masia, the Barcelona academy to become one of the legends of the first team of the Blaugrana. At the end of last season, he was given an emotional farewell after ending his time at the Camp Nou with an impressive haul of trophies.

Xavi won 8 La Liga titles, 3 Copas del Rey, 6 SuperCopas, 4 Champions Leagues, 2 European Super Cups and 2 Club World Cups.

Xavi ended his international career with Spain in 2014 after taking part in his fourth World Cup (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014). He won the 2010 edition in South Africa while in the Confederation Cup, he finished third in 2009 and second in the 2013 edition.

At the youth level, Xavi played for Spain at the U17 World Cup and won the 1999 U20 World Cup. He was also part of the team that won bronze at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In 2008 and 2012, he won two European Championships.
