Xavi: Proud of the award, happy to be in Qatar

​Spanish star and Al-Sadd midfielder Xavi Hernandez has expressed his happiness and pride in receiving the MARCA LEYENDA awards for footballing legends.

Xavi said: “To be honest, I never dreamt of reaching this point in my career. In the beginning, all I wanted was to enjoy football with my family but with the passage of time, things turned out in a very different manner and I found myself achieving many big things.”

He added: “Without a doubt, I see my decision to come to Qatar and play for Al-Sadd as one of the most important decisions in my footballing career as I really feel very happy at the club and with Aspire too. I am enjoying myself and my small family too is feeling happy and comfortable here. So I can only thank the state of Qatar, Al-Sadd Club and Aspire Academy for their hospitality.”

As for his next station in football, Xavi said he was not focusing on anything now other than enjoying himself while playing at Al-Sadd and that he cannot promise that he will turn to coaching after this period, especially as it is not an easy task. He added that talk about coaching was premature at this point.
